Gum Tree, similar to eBay, is a fantastic website to help you get rid of unwanted items. You can buy and sell items such as clothes, household items, electrical goods and even cars. Gum Tree has more than two million items for sale and advertises more than 150,000 services.

If you have items cluttering up your home, garage or shed then here is a simple guide for selling them on Gum Tree.

The first thing you will need to do is sign up for an account, this will enable you to keep track of all your items in one place and you will receive email notifications when someone is interested in your sale item. The sign up process requires you to choose your location, this is so people can search for items in their area.

For each item that you are selling you are required to categorise it so that people are able to find what they are looking for easily.

Once you have chosen your category you need to give your advert a title and description as well as adding an image. When writing the description, ensure that you include as much detail about the item you are selling including size, colour, condition and how you intend to deliver the item.

Once you are happy with your advert, you can post it!

You will be given access to a stats page where you can see how many people are viewing your advert.

Gum Tree is completely free to advertise and sell your items from, however if you choose you can pay a small fee to ensure that your items remains at the top of the page.
