Valentine’s day on a budget
Love it or hate it Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and will turn many of the population’s couples into love struck teenagers for 24 hours. Many will see this day as one of unnecessary costs, as the day approaches the prices of champagne, flowers and chocolates increases. However, I am here to prove that you can show the one you love how you feel without it costing the earth.
The card
Making your own card can not only save you money but it means that you can make it more personal to that special someone in your life.
The chocolates
Most supermarkets will up the costs of boxes of chocolates around Valentine’s Day, if you pop down the confectionery aisle you will usually find them in their standard packaging and probably at the usual price.
The flowers
A dozen red roses are the Valentine’s tradition however every woman will have her personal favourite flower, there is nothing wrong with abandoning tradition to go with something they will like and that will be that little bit cheaper.
The present
If you insist on buying a present for your partner, they why not scrap tradition with the flowers and chocolates, instead spend the money on something that you know they want.
The meal
Restaurants are usually booked up around Valentine’s Day and will cost more than normal. Who says you have to go out? There is nothing wrong with staying in and cooking a romantic meal for two in the comfort of your own home.
Things to do for free
Not everything has to cost you on Valentine’s Day there are plenty of things that you can do to show someone you love them without spending any money. Tell your partner you love them – it’s free and it will mean the world to them. Or make them a mixed CD of all the songs that mean something to you as a couple allowing you to relive your greatest memories together. And then there is always breakfast in bed.
If you have any tips please feel free to share them.
